 | | ESSENCE ”The Palette of the Pine Bird
– from Rome to Campus Varde” The Danish artist Hans Tyrrestrup, who has one of his studios near Varde, is internationally orientated and is represented in museums both in Denmark and abroad. In 2008 “Queen Ingrid’s Roman Foundation” granted Hans Tyrrestrup a three-month stay at The Danish Academy in Rome. The intention was to study and generate artistic power for the project “The Birds of Rome in Art and Reality”. In text and pictures “The Palette of the Pine Bird” provides insight into the artistic process experienced by Hans Tyrrestrup. At the Academy and in the near-by Villa Borghese Park he has sketched and examined the relations between birds and angels and taken a special interest in “the inspiration”, which, as a theme, has been woven into the course of the book. The book shows water colour sketches and study materials leading definitively to the principal artistic work, the painting “Roma Luce”. A final section of the book deals with the painting “Campus Varde”, which was begun in Rome and completed in the West Jutland studio. Both works belong to Campus Varde, where they in 2011 were hung for the opening of the education centre. In an introduction the art historian Vera Rasmussen tells about Tyrrestrup’s relations with Rome. The book will be published in connection with an exhibition at Varde Museum. | | |
